About TidyEstate
When someone dies, the person left to sort out the estate — the executor — often has no idea where to start. They face a mountain of paperwork, a maze of HMRC and HMCTS forms, dozens of institutions to notify, and legal deadlines with real consequences for missing them.
Solicitors help — but their fees (typically 1–3% of the estate value plus VAT) can cost a family £3,000–£10,000 for work that, in a straightforward estate, doesn’t require legal training. Most of it is form-filling, valuation-gathering, and letter-writing.
TidyEstate was built for the person who has to figure it all out. A step-by-step guide in plain English, generating the official forms that need to go to HMCTS and HMRC, tracking the tasks and deadlines, and handling the administration in a calm, organised way — without a solicitor bill.
What TidyEstate is not
TidyEstate is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. It is software that helps executors understand and complete a well-defined administrative process.
For complex estates — foreign assets, business interests, contested wills, trusts — TidyEstate detects the complexity and tells executors clearly when a regulated solicitor is needed. The right tool for the right job.
England & Wales only
TidyEstate is designed specifically for probate law in England and Wales. Scotland uses a different system (Confirmation), and Northern Ireland has its own process. We don’t cover either — and we won’t pretend to.
Data privacy
Estate data is some of the most sensitive personal and financial data that exists. All TidyEstate data is stored in UK data centres (eu-west-2, London) under UK GDPR. No data is shared with third parties beyond what is necessary to operate the service. No advertising pixels. No selling of data.
See our Privacy policy for the full details.
